Unfourtunatly this is a good piece because in my view, living in the UK. I can strongly see it playing out like this. The UK has reached over 60m ppl only 40m are native british. So that leaves 20m who are scamming our system.

This has nothing to do with racism, it's not a matter of race, Piakhan, the matter is european identity, culture, and civilization... Oriental people renouncing to islamic habits at the frontier, adopting the western european culture and living like european people won't be a problem for Europe... European people do the favor to recieve foreigners, which must respect that welcome and not try to alter the european nations in a muslim way...

We too have lots of immigrants in our counntry and I have no problem with this, the matter is when the original culture (here Quebec, 6 miilions of french speaking people fighting for our identity in a sea of 200 millions english speaking people) is treatened because they dont want to learn our culture and tongue and they wanna alter Quebec to see it as their original country.So I agree with you Slomone! isnt it good if there are different peoples from different cultures in differnt countries? in uk i believe that there is not hate for the asians that move here because of wat they do here, but a biased view of the instablitiy in their original part of the world, and what the governments of uk and america want us to believe.

I feel obligated to say something about this.

Yes, immigrants will enter Europe; yes, European culture will alter and adapt. That doesn't mean that European women will be forced to wear burkhas, that Britain will be renamed "North Pakistan," or that Christianity will be destroyed.

The United States (where I'm from) had the same influx of immigration in the past, and Americans had the same alarmist reaction with each new new wave of people and their "bizarre un-American customs", be they Irish, Polish, Chinese, or Mexican. Last time I checked maps of North America didn't read "New China", nor have the more-native Protestants in America been bludgeoned into practicing Catholicism.

If things were reversed, and you were impelled by economic conditions to migrate to Indonesia - do you think you'd abandon your old (Spanish, I presume?) customs overnight? And would you feel good if the locals claimed you were out to take over their country and destroy their culture when all you really wanted was a better paying job?

There are actions of some Muslim immigrants to Europe that aren't desirable (take the murder of Theo van Gogh), but the bulk of Muslims are just like people anywhere else - trying to eke out a decent living.

In a hundred years, the culture of Europe will change radically, whether immigrants flood in or not. All life is change, but change isn't always bad.
